Organic Yard Waste

  • Recyclable paper bags MUST be used for organic waste pickup. PLASTIC BAGS WILL BE LEFT AT THE CURB.
  • Recyclable bags will be picked up with garden and flower bed organic yard waste as well as bundled clippings. NO GRASS.
  • BAGS WILL BE PICKED UP FASTER.
  • Pick up days for leaf bags, organic yard waste, and clippings will be Tuesdays and Fridays of non-bulk weeks in October, November, and December.
  • See the October Newsletter for more details.

Mask Notice

Following the guidelines of the CDC, the Village of Buchanan requires masks to be worn inside all Village buildings regardless of vaccine status until further notice.

As a reminder, the best way to prevent transmission is to get vaccinated, wear a mask covering your nose and mouth, maintain social distancing and wash your hands frequently.  The Village is committed to providing a safe environment for the public and staff to access Village services and attend meetings.  With these measures, we can avoid another shutdown and continue to provide in-person service.

Logo Redesign Contest

Are you a Buchanan or Town of Cortlandt resident with a talent for art and design flair? Our Village needs your artistic skills!

Deadline extended to October 15, 2021
Village Seal

The Village of Buchanan is holding a contest to redesign our Village seal, which appears on the Village letterhead and many other documents. We are looking to reflect the change from the current seal’s industrial symbols to the current environment emphasizing iconic Village features (Village Hall, the clock in the circle, Lents Cove Park), area history, and the local waterfront on the Hudson River.

Designs must be submitted by October 15, 2021. Questions? Contact Trustee Nick Zachary and Hendrick Hudson School District art teacher Jessica Nash by email.

Opens in a New Window Click here to download the announcement from the April Newsletter.

A panel will be formed to review all the designs submitted and select five finalists. Village residents will then vote to select the winning design. There will be a cash prize which will be announced later.

Vist the contest website: Opens in a New Windowhttps://sites.google.com/view/buchananlogocontest1/home for a link to submit your design and more information.
